About the Event

Explore a different side of California this Saturday with a free wine tasting at Cork and Cap! We'll be popping some of our favorites from the "new generation" of California producers, and hopefully make you as big of fans of these wines as we are!

The line-up includes:

1. Lieu Dit Melon—It’s rare to see Melon – the French grape of Muscadet – in California. Lieu Dit focuses solely on the varieties indigenous to the Loire Valley, now grown in Santa Barbara County. This wine is so light and fresh, with racy acidity.

2. SoCo LIOCO Chardonnay —Husband/wife duo Matt and Sara Licklider and their small team produce the wines at a state-of-the-art winemaking cooperative in Santa Rosa. This chardonnay is a fresh and vivid expression of the grape, unencumbered by the expression of oak, so the fruit and soil shine through.

3. Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir—Remember the movie Sideways? It put Santa Barbera Pinot Noir on the map, and this wine is miles above other Pinots in the same price category.

4. Matthiasson Cabernet Sauvignon—In the crowded landscape of Napa Valley wineries, Steve and Jill Klein Matthiasson have carved out a unique place for sustainably-produced wines. From the winemakers: "Sometimes you just want an honest glass of Cabernet. Refreshing, flavorful, not too heavy, and not too light. A Cab for drinking at the table, not looking at in the cellar. And a Napa Cab that doesn’t break the bank." This Cab is it!
